Those of you who would like to get a visual sense of Montreal should turn to Sept-Iles native and ex-Montrealer, Sylvain Dumais’ photos. The inspiring photography he delivers, both in his personal projects as well as in his paying gigs has a distinct style and portrays the city in a unique way. However, it isn’t restricted to Montreal as Dumais, now a seasoned pro, travels around and puts people and places from everywhere in front of his lens before firing the shutter. I especially enjoyed his project on ice fishing in Quebec’s Saguenay fjord, which was published in Montreal magazine Urbania, it showcases a little known-about lifestyle that is only possible in a place as frigidly cold as our “Belle Province”.
