When summer comes, Surf in Montreal…

10river6001

Via: Jesse Huffman for The New York Times

To the uninitiated, the scene on a recent morning along the St. Lawrence River in Montreal might have inspired confusion. Behind the striking modular apartment complex known as Habitat 67, a crowd of surfers slipped into wet suits and waxed up their boards, 500 miles from the nearest ocean beach.

They were preparing to surf a standing river wave in the St. Lawrence, where high-velocity water roars over a steep river-bottom depression, pitches back and upward, and creates a waist-to-overhead breaker. Surfers paddle into it or swing out by rope to catch the green-faced wedge, rewarded by a seemingly endless ride. Read More…

The Vice Photo Show

msom_vice

Vice is celebrating the release of its yearly Photo Issue with an exhibition at The Emporium Gallery (3035 St. Antoine Ouest, #74) on Thursday, July 16th from 7PM-11PM. The Vice Photo Show, which features the work of Dana Goldstein and Jamie Taete, profiles the work of two emerging and regular contributing photographers that Vice has become quite fond of. Chock full of humorous photos, The Vice Photo show should not be missed.

Am Getting Laid After Party // Souls of Mischeif

souls-of-mischief-x-am-getting-laid-party

‘93 til Infinity is hands down one of the greatest hip-hop albums to come out during the early 90’s.  The group made of of A-Plus, Phesto, Tajai and Opio were in my mind (along with Pharcyde) going to be the west coast answer to A Tribe Called Quest.  Even though they didn’t make as big commercially they had 4 albums (not including the great Hieroglyphics album with Jay-Biz, Pep Love, Casual and Del the Funkee Homosapien) you do not want to pass up this show!!!!

The AM Getting Laid after party with Souls of Mischief (from Oakland) and DJ Dom Rocket (from New York) Saturday July 25th at the Theatre telus, located at 1280 St-Denis corner of Ste-Catherine east.

The tickets are on sale at Underworld, Theatre Telus, Instock and Admission.

Door at 9pm
Tickets price:
14$ in advance
18$ at the door

ps. for those of you who don’t know here is one of my favorite tracks..
