Pooky Trashy Comique Exhibition

photo2carlcharlandAlong with the summer comes free time for students. We all try to make the best of it. That is why four artists from room 403 of the Grover factory have put together a brand new series of pieces, over the summer, for their “Pooky Trashy Comique” exhibition.

Our time at the factory is coming to an end. This second exhibition, by this new generation of artists, comes to celebrate the event as we attempt to find our place in the artistic community of Montreal. Our goal is to bring to the spotlight the themes disregarded by today’s popular art and to bring aesthetic value to ugliness. All this achieved with a humorous touch, of course.

United under one roof are four very distinct personalities. Carl Charland makes stylised representations of human stereotypes and mystical symbols. Kevin Beaulieu brings on the trashy and the shocking, finding pleasure in challenging our judgement on his art, sex and all the gross things in the world. Hervé Fortin-Charron is a photographer in his free time, retouching his pictures with pastel and marker, creating strange, linear and childish characters. Fanny Latreille-Beaumont, assumes her femininity by making abstract collages with organic materials as well as autoportraits. She also explores the still-life from a variety of angles.

The Pooky Trashy Comique exhibition is free. It will be held on the 23rd of October from 9pm to midnight, as well as on the 24th and 25th from 11am to 10pm at the Grover factory, 2065 Parthenais, at the corner of Ontario. Please note that the opening night of the exhibition is on the 23rd. There will be food and drinks for all guests. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and support the next generation of artists in Montreal.
