Another video we’ve been sitting on for a month but definitely buzz worthy.  It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Mark Ronson since his hugely successful second album: Version (we still smirk when we hear his 60’s Jazz/R&B take on Coldplay’s: God  Put a Smile on Your Face as well as Radiohead’s: Just).  Their is no denying the man oozes with talent (he is the man behind Amy Winehouse’s debut album Back to Black) which makes us super excited for the release of his new album: Record Collection.  Gone is the former band:  The Version Players instead to be replaced with: The Business Intl.  And like business they waste no time on: Bang, Bang, Bang hitting you with throw back 80’s Rap (supplied by Q-Tip), Synths and that infectious sped up Chorus (sung by Amanda Warner of MNDR) which is sure to make you lose it on the dancefloor (shame on you if you stand against the wall like a 80’s Wall Street stiff!).

But that’s just half of why we like it, we’re sure you all recognize the reference from “Alouette” yes that very same French Canadian childerns song (just listen you can hear the line Je te plumerai la tête) that and the beginning of the music video also depicts a young girl singing the opening lines to ‘Alouette’.

An easy and infectious choice to kick off your weekend!

As you might know we here at MSOM are HUGE fans of Sebastien Tellier (see here for previous posts).  We could go on and on about how much of a genius he and his music is but we get so excited at the thought of it we wouldn’t know where to start writing!  Well if we had the production skills we would definitely try to pay homage with a remix.  Sadly we don’t (yet!) but a lot of other talented producers have made some brilliant remixes from his last album: Sexuality (If you don’t own this album or have a hard copy you should!! After 2 years its still on heavy rotation).

The recently released remix album: Sexuality Remix features a great and diverse talent pool of producers from: A-Trak who puts in a serious disco club smash version of “Kilometer” while Aeroplane puts their Italo-Disco spin on the same track (you check it out my mix I did last year).  Parisian’s Kavinsky and Breakbot remix Roche, the former providing his first and only remix (to date) while the latter does his up beat Disco-House spin on it.  The Beach Boys sounding Divine gets tweeked up by Kasper Winding.  Those are just some of our favorites.. we skipped out SebAstian, Midnight Juggernauts, Danger, Floating Points & Boys Noize not because they aren’t good anything its just that we’re getting too excited talking about it! In other words trust us and pick it up!
