Hailing from Waco Texas Hi-Five were compared to similar R&B acts at this time like: H-Town, Public Annoucement, Shai and Boyz II Men. There debut self-titled album came out in 1991 and was produced by none other (you guessed it) Teddy Riley. Hi-Five had a couple of serious hits on the first album from: I Can’t Wait Another Minute, I Just Can’t Handle It and there biggest hit (todays video): I Like the Way (the Kissing Game). They followed up with another Keep It Goin a year later. Altough it wasn’t a huge success there was the R. Kelly written track: Quality Time. There last big hit was: Unconditional Love which got some serious rotation and airplay due to the Menace II Society Sountrack (a must watch when watching movies from this genre ie. Juice, Boyz in the Hood, etc.). Sadly the group disbanned when founder Tony Thompson passed away in 2007 but we still have this classic New Jack Swing jem to remember (a staple for any bump & grind classic mixtape).
